2nd gen body lift: steering shaft

I have installed a few body lifts before on full size chevys and fords, and i have never drilled out the plastic pins in the steering shaft. a buddy told me that they will break as the body comes up, and it seems to have always worked so far.

I am getting ready to install a 3" body lift on my 90' this evening, and I was curious of others experiences with the steering shaft pins. normally it wouldnt be a big deal to pull the shaft and drill them, but i loaned both my cordless and corded drill to a friend whos out of town.

I drilled out mine on my 85 to compensate for 5" of lift...works fine. Just replace them with some 1/8" rolling pins to kinda hold the shaft in the sleeve.
