If you live on the West coast, yes. Does it have the e-locker? Is it in good condition? Are the tires good? Brakes? Maintenance history? Tow hitch? Stereo? Always plan to put in $500-1000 in deferred maintenance if there is no DOCUMENTED history. Never believe the seller on maintenance.

I live in Tennessee. It doesn't have docs. No elocker. great condition, good tires, brakes good, has tow hitch, cd-tape stereo. 2 owners. I have also found a 98 limited 140000 miles for 8995.

See if you can get the '00 down another 1000 and go with the less miles. Off road capability is the same pretty much for all the 3rd gens but in late '00 and the '0!+ have the shorter coils.
Plus you will get the better cupholder design, better headlamps, etc. along with alot of other upgrades that came with the '99 model.
