Question 1999 4Runner 3.4 V6 COIL OVERS -- WHAT DO I BUY?!

Hey everyone, i'm new here at yotatech..

I've had my runner since day 1, it has 140k on it, and its running great.. i'd like to do some mods to it, and i'd really appreciate any suggestions or advice..

I'm going to buy an AEM Brute Force ColdAir Intake for it.. What do you guys think?

Also, I want to change out the struts to Coil Overs.. I have NO IDEA what i should be looking at.. Also, any suggestions for the rear?? I dont want to spend a fortune.. i'm looking for something under 2000 dollars.

Last but not least.. exhaust.. I hear too many toyotas driving around that sound like a baby cow is being slaughtered.. i'd like something that sounds clean and strong, and doesnt get all raspy. any ideas?

NO cold air intake, not good if you plan on offroading it.

For 2k you can have a nice suspension set up.

For the front you can go with Icons, Saws, Camburgs, Toytecs, and All Pro.

I am running Toytec coilovers upfront, and ome 891 spring and bilstein 5125's in the rear. I have about 1k into my suspension.

If you want to spend 2k, I would go some Icons, or Saws with uniball upper control arms, and sonoran steel rear lift kit.

Donahoe Racing Coilovers 1-3" lift adjustable, they handle like mad and are unbelievably durable.

What do you mean by "struts to coilovers"? Your front struts ARE coilovers and the rear has shocks and coils. Maybe you mean adjustable coilovers?

Anyway. For $2000. Take your pick. you can buy just about lift you want. Most lift options are much cheaper. First you have to think about how much lift you want.

If your going to do any off-roading don't get the intake. If you search this site you will find better intake options that you can do yourself. (I think it's in the newb section)

Do you really do any offroading that would necessitate adjustable coilovers? If not, you can save yourself a fair bit of money.

If you don't NEED adj coilovers then I would sugest some Tundra TRD springs up front and either Old Man Emu 890s or 891s for the back. The 890s will give you about 2.75" of lift and the 891s will give you 3" and carry more weight.

I went with a "stock replacement" muffler from a good shop. It has some tone but is not loud, inside or out.

I really do enjoy my 890s in the rear, although I opted for 881s with no spacer up front.

does your $2k budget include labor? you should know that ain't gonna be cheap if you need a shop to do the installation.

adjustable coilover's are over rated, just how many have changed the ride height, and amoung them how many are REALLY needed.

i've be on SS1.2(front and rear and all the other "stuff") for few weeks and i abusolutely love it. it's a cafefully designed and trail proven package specificly for your 4Runner. remember, Steve himself drives the same 99 you have.

I also really like my 890s but I just bought a pair of 891s because when I tow, which is alot, the rear squats too much (2"+ with a tongue weight of 400#)
