1986 SR5 Longbox 4x4
Is it true that the 1986 Toyota's are not as tuff as the 1989 and up. I can get a good deal off buddy that has an 86 4x4 sr5. I am looking for a brochure on these models as well.

huh? every 4x4 from '79-95 had frames that were similar in strength. the only thing i can think of that might be superior in the '89-95 trucks is resistance to rust and the fact that they're newer

They are very similar. One difference is that the mounts/sockets for the IFS torsion bar pre 89 model pickup was weaker and in extreme cases pull through the mount. In 89 they changed the design to a stronger mount. Otherwise, they are basically the same.
