03 4Runner leaning slightly

I have noticed this on several new 4Runners including my own. If you measure from the ground to rear wheel well you will notice a roughly 3/8" difference from the left and right sides. I have verified that each one I measure had the same tire pressure in each tire.

Anyone else notice this? Is there a way to adjust this? Do I have a bad spring?

I noticed that the front spring have different colors on them from left to right, but the rear springs are the same color (yellow).

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

???

Could be an attempt to adjust for the fact that the driver's side typically sees most of the weight as most cars are single passenger (driver) vehicles these days?

The fuel tank is on the driver's side and when it is full you will see a difference.
It's the same way on the series 3 Runners - the front coils are different and have markings to indicate which side they belong. The diver's side front coil should be a bit taller than the passenger side. The rear coils have identicle markings on the series 3 Runners and are the same height.

I just went out and measured mine. It's the same both sides at 35 5/8" from the ground through the hub center to the bottom of the painted lower moulding with the suspension in the Normal position. But, that's with ¼ tank remaining so I'll measure again with a full tank in a few days.

What I'm wondering is what other air suspension rigs are measuring? The rear seems to be sitting slightly higher after the SSC30E recall was done. Would someone pre-recall measure and post? TIA.

Are you sure the floor (garage, driveway) you are parked on is completely flat? I have seen a couple of rigs that were 'leaning', but always thought the ground was slightly unlevel.

Yes I have check the floor.

Mine measures 36" from floor to botton of rear fender flare on passenger side, and 35-5/8" on drivers side.

Doesn't seem to make much difference how much gas is in the tank.

This is normal has to due with more weight on the driver side the gas tank, driver and engine are closer to the driver side, if you ever lift or replace your springs the front driver side is slightly longer, even springs that come with a lift have a slight bit more height for the driver, Pathfinders have the same issue as well as other SUV and Pickups.

Yes, I remember this topic coming up with just about every new truck (including the Murano- which is more a car). I remember there was a long discussion about in for the Nissan Xterra. I think the conclusion was the earth is not flat and it is to compensate for gas or driver or both.

Did you guys know that the left side of the 80's (angled w/ scooped in headlights) Camaro was 1.5" lower than the right? No not the springs- THE BODY! Rumor has it they were so rushed they took the molds off the full size clay before perfecting it and so the left and right body panels are actually not a mirror of each other, one is smaller than the other!
Won't happen anymore since everyone uses CAD now but I thought it was funny.
