Yeah i know, it was my buddies axle and i had to go to work so i told him i wasn't gonna take a wire wheel to it, and he said he didn't care enough to do it himself lol. Ohh well He now has Longs in the front and a new gusseted and straight housing

As for updates, not much on the 4runner haha my DD has been pooping out on me, so it needed some attention. I dropped the gas tank and replaced my sending unit to fix my fuel gauge and now it needs a new ignition switch...its only money right? lol

Ohh but i did finish my nice little welding cart now everything is tidy and stable!

Well I'm back from camping! I took some pictures of the carnage and got a video of my buddy doing the log jam in elbe. Which for those not familiar with it, is pretty damn impressive.
Anyways. Work will proceed tomorrow and ive got $350 bucks to either spend or save till next payday... I do need, a front axle. Vented rotors, high steer arms (I have the links), wheel spacers and a front third to complete the sas. Then ill need a new v6 tranny. Because my first gear is screaming! I need to install my flowmaster; and get neq tires!
Ahh the joys of working on my truck! I'm having so much fun and I may have even found a special someone to enjoy it with me I met her this weekend lol but this isn't a blog its a build thread so ill get back to you when I have pics and progress!

Good work getting the roof back on.

Also nice one on the girl. The beginning is always exciting.

Your build is fun to watch. I'm liking your welding cart. Looks like a good project for me to do so I can learn to use my welder.

Big update!!!!

First off, i want to apologize for not updating! Its not that i havent been doing anything, ive just been a tad lazy...
So first thing i did was clean up my axle and shave the bottom with 1/4" plate

Size: 96.6 KB

Then i went over to Rykers house to help him install some weld on beadlocks on his 2.5" backspacing... i know what you all have heard, but it is possible!!

Once i got back to work on my truck, i reset the backspacing on my 3rd and cleaned up my front spring mounts and home made 7" shackles!
But as im sure you all have experienced, there is rust in the most unfortunate of places... Like the middle of your frame right next to where your new leaf spring mounts go!

But i just plated over that with a nice clean weld

Everything is tacked up and i tested the location and shackle angle till i got one i liked.
Next i had to fix a broken fuel line issue, so i made a cute little jumper soft line

Size: 104.9 KB
I then proceeded to mock up my new exhaust with the 2.5" flowmaster that i got from the junkyard! So i bought a new cat and got 2' of tubing and an adapter from autozone and taaadaaa!
Name: 20130302_181452_zpsa1ac70c9.jpg
Views: 101

I also painted it with a nice coat or two of matte black header paint to keep it pretty from all the muck.

Okay so, at this point, im like "yessss, lets go for a test drive!" So i get my little sister out here to help me blead my brakes aaaaaaaaand..... yuup, broken break line!! So i cut out the broken brake line and go buy a flaring tool and some 3/16" m10x1.0 connectors! Problem solved!
Next i made an extension to my LSPV arm and welded that to the axle to help my brakes work and went for a drive.

In that last picture you can see my nice extender and shackle angle.

Flexes WAAAAAY better than the stock links (;
This set up is a wheel base stretch, with an f150 3pack, minus overload and i added the bottom most leaf out of a tundra pack. Has a nice lift for 35's or 36's, i just have to trim for the bigger tires

Unfortunately, i went to mount my bilstein 12's aaaaaaand, the damn LSPV is in the way!
So i did some research and turns out that due to toyota's sucky rear drums, it isnt necessary to limit the volume of brake fluid to the rear brakes at all! especially with bigger tires. What this means is i went to auto zone and picked up a brass Tee fitting and just looped the three lines that go into the LSPV together.

Now i cut a new crossmember out of 1.75" .120 and welded some upper shock mounts to it. Im going to use my buddies plasma cutter again to cut out the cross member that the LSPV was originally mounted to to make room for my new crossmember.
Is this a big enough update for you guys?

Well i couldnt have done any of this without the help of my loyal dog Bentley, he spends every day with me! Rain or shine!

Im confident that no one follows my thread anymore, so i dont feel bad for being away from they keys for so long, but that doesnt mean progress wasnt being made. Honestly it wasnt much though.

I did get around to trimming the wheel wells as you can see,

We still follow. You just need more updates.

How do leaf springs feel compared to stock suspension? I've started considering them instead of coil overs.

Yuppers! I'm sure you all guessed right, you know its a big project when i share a picture of my buddies undies with all of you kind people!

Got the yota back in my buddies shop! The scenario we had was this:
I had just gotten home its about 10, my truck has been sitting at his house and i have a garage full of parts. I'm feeling a bit energetic, so i load up my 2wd B2200 and bottom out the springs!
The next logical step, before calling Ryker is to head up to McChev and buy 4 redbulls to accompany me on this long night.
Now i show up at his house and explain how we are starting my SAS tonight!
We pull my truck into the garage at about midnight and he tells me we have to be out of the shop by 9am... GO TIME!

And here she blows!!

Please ignore the horrid alignment! She got trailered home and i haven't done it yet

I got an appropriate shackle angle:

Size: 135.0 KB

And i moved my axle foreward to clear for future tires and save my firewall some heartache!

This picture makes the front axle look like it isnt as far foreward as it is, due to the way the wheel is turned...weird... or maybe that's just me?

Still have a LOT of here and there clean up, grinding, welding, mounting, painting, grinding, and BUYING to do, but i am super content with the outcome!

Hope to get some feedback guys!

Who wants to know what's next??

Looks great man. Those Eastwood weldeds are nice. I almost picked a 110v one up but got a good deal in a 220v Hobart.

Nice job on the welds and SAS.

X2 on the hacked 3rd gen. That would be the perfect vehicle. Load the family up, Throw a cooler in the back and wheel all weekend. And pick up motors to be swapped during the week.

You guys are awesome! Thanks for all the support!

And yes, you guessed it, once i finish up the sas completely, its getting chopped

Ive had this planned for the longest time, and im finally in a place where i can do it, considering the weather is starting to clear up! Less rain equals more opportunity to do body work.

I grew up in British Columbia so I know what a cramp that West Coast rain can be. All the awesome of the Pacific Northwest has to be paid for somehow so let it rain. I can't wait to move back down there.
