it probably is, because i sourced it at the local toyota parts department last summer or fall. the earlier number i’m sure works fine. i installed it the day i picked it up, and it has worked correctly.'

edit: although when i check my toyota parts online source, the 89151 comes back as the original part number, not a supercede. it looks like the original is still available via toyota.

something is up with mine, the end that goes to the transmission is different. It's hex shaped, I noticed right off but thought maybe it had been changed over the years. I'm going to see if it goes on or not tomorrow.

Hi man, sorry to hijack this thread but I've been following for awhile and im actually also local to the Boston/ southern NH area. the one place I've gone wheeling here in out at the national seashore but I took my 90R on a road trip to Colorado last summer and looking for some more local options. My gf is from Londonderry NH so we're up there a decent amount but I've never wheeled in NH

edit I meant to reply to the other guy, I've been following this for awhile. im in Boston and you don't see too many 1g and 2G runners here. I think what you've done to the rig is super cool.

That is one of the nicest beaches around! We spent a week there in July a few years back and that water is freezing!

so as it turns out, Yotashop cancelled my order. When I emailed to ask why, they replied the part is discontinued. Looks like Damion812 got the last one!

Try finding that part number that wallytoo got 89151. Mine is close but it was not what I had . I was able partially fit it so far but it is not the same cable. Hopefully it works .....I've been laid up with covid so hopefully today I'll get out there today. I'm going out of my mind trying to isolate from the family. I'm moving out to the garage 😂

the part i bought, 89151, still shows up as available from several dealers and toyota specialty places - McGeorge Toyota, Toyota Parts Deal, etc. i know it fits a w-56, 22re, '87 sr5 4runner, because i installed it last year.

No, it's not me, but some of those vehicle got some nice air off those speed bumps. Funny seeing brake lights coming on suddenly when they get air, too. You can almost hear them thinking "What the heck just happened??".

Have fun!

Check your driveshaft phasing!

My truck had always had this strange bouncing feeling at steady speeds below 25 mph. It was an oscillation that made me think i might have a bent rim, axle or driveshaft. I ran it on jackstands but could not determine the cause. Then I was watching some car video and they talked about driveshaft phase and sure enough, that was the problem. The yokes on shaft should be in the same plane, or you get this jumprope sort of effect. I just lifted the rear wheels, unbolted the front slip yoke, reclocked it, and bolted it back up. Feels great now, no more kiddie-ride bouncing!👍🏻

Better than my photo.

Been racking up the miles on the ol’ 4runner lately in the great summer weather.
Took the wife to the beach in York Maine. You can park at a metered space on the road and sit on the sand steps from your car.
As soon as we parked, a younger 4runner enthusiast surfer who was driving by had to stop and come talk to me. He was building a very high end firstgen with long travel suspension and lots of customization.

Parking so close rules.

Really good place to get a lobster roll.

A little farther up the road in Perkins Cove.

Then for the 4rth, put a few hundred miles on from Boston to Mystic, CT and a cruise through Watch Hill, RI.
I wanted my son to get more seat time in the truck so he’d get more comfortable driving the stick. What better way than driving in the parade? Low range first gear. We threw lollipops to the kids and Milk bones to the doges.

Beautiful summertime pics. That beach is so scenic, I've never been to northeast.

One more cool car I have seen before in Mystic. This one predates the famous “Independence Chevelle” from Vice Grip Garage on YouTube.

Somehow have not yet found the time to pull the trans, install the twin stick shifter or the whole new Powerstop V6 front brake kit I bought because I’ve been driving it so much. It's about to turn over 200k miles. 178k when i bought it.

Rockport, MA. Cool place.

Agreed I would just enjoy it during the summer and get to those projects later. I've got a list of stuff I've put off, some even from last year. I've wanted to do the brake booster and MC since I got the 4runner. I've had the bigger MC since then and got the booster recently but I may not be able to utilize it. I'm not looking to go bigger on the front rotors even though it would be better. They wouldn't fit the wheels. I want to add the MC and booster to see if it may work and keep the old stuff if it doesn't.
