DP4Runner's 94 4Runner "Build-Up Thread"

Starting my build up thread to document things that I've been doing for my 94 4runner.

I got it last fall with 194,000 miles and mostly original parts. Since with the help of my dad have put in all new belts including timing along with all the good stuff under the timing cover.
New sparkplugs/wires, distributer, all kinds of hoses and valves and what not. New exhaust after my catalitic converter got cut out along with a locking system on the new cat as a deterent.
New cv boots, headlights, less running boards. Probably forgetting some stuff but it seems like i'm running out of old parts to replace.
Anyway here it is... had to figure out how to post pictures. Now seemed like a good time.

clutch replacement

I had a sudden grinding start when shifting so replaced the clutch master and slave as well as shifter seat.
Shifter is really smooth after that but still grinding.
Guessed it was the release bearing so ordered clutch kit. getting new seals put in. Going to replace my leaky rear main seal too finally.
Got the clutch kit yesterday.
Transmission is now sitting on the ground under my 4runner the two top bolts sucked to get off.
Hopefully I'll be able to start getting that back together tomorrow.

speaker replacement

So since my 4runner has been out of commission for a while I ordered speakers to replace the stock component system.
I cut out the holes in the speaker enclosures to fit slightly larger speakers for the front and rear 4. 4'' bostons in the front and 5 1/2'' kickers in the rear.
I also am working on custom brackets for 3 1/2'' speakers to replace the tweeters above the tailgate.
I finished the more difficult of the two first. Still need to finish the second. I already cut the aluminum just need to bend it and make the pvc block as well.

comparison old/new

the aluminum bracket is screwed to the pvc speaker "holder" from the back side and then the bracket is mounted to stock bracket holes.

flywheel

Yeah I have been trying to decide if it needs replaced or if I can just have it resurfaced?
I got readings on the ridge of anywhere from 1mm to .35mm which seem ok right?
I just stuck my digital micrometer up on its end and pushed down so the sliding center went over the edge and I did these measurements quickly so I'm not sure how accurate they are.
I still need to clean it off better to look for cracks probably.
I'm going out of town for ten days, hopefully I'll still remember where everything goes when I get back. took off the oil pan yesterday to replace the seal on that and check out the oil pump. This is the most i've had apart at one time.

rear main seal

Put in a new rear main seal and I am not sure if this gap is suppsoed to be there around the shaft? It did not go on as hard as I thought it should have.
I do not want to do this again and am worried about it not being correct now.

Marlin crawler flywheel

I just got in my flywheel from marlin crawler. Not happy with it. I could have got the same made in china pos for half the price at autozone. It came in with dents on the surface and besides heat cracks looks in worse shape than the one I removed. I have been happy with my other parts that I purchased from them but this one made me mad. I have no idea why they are charging so much for what seems like the same thing.
