1987 4x4 22r Pickup Rebuild - Upgrade 140 LCE Alternator question.

I have seen a lot of threads about this but havent really seen a common solution.

I upgraded the 60amp alternator on my 1987 Toyota 22r 4x4 pickup to the direct-fit LCE 140amp one. It came with 10ga wire to run to the battery, the same I believe as what the 60amp used. However, I have been reading that its better to use 2 to 4ga wire from the alt to the battery and then some people say use a fuse inline and others say you dont need one. Some have 200amp fuses on a 140 amp alternator and others say the fuse should be about 85% of your alt's max output.

I went ahead and ran one 4ga wire from the battery and then another piece from the alternator so I can use a fuse in between. I thought I would use a 120amp fuse in one of those mountable higher gauge fuse holders that are commonly used with stereo amp installs. I will bypass the old cable completely. I have also upgraded the battery ground wire to 4ga. Is this a safe method or is there a better way to do it? I dont know what all I will be running off the truck, but I do already have some off-road lighting, electric Black Magic radiator fan, and a higher output stereo. I have the Redtop Optima battery installed.

Thanks in advance

Don't get the one wire thing but hey that's me. I didn't fuse mine and no problems. But the fusible link is still before first distro box. I went over kill and used O wielding ground cable for alt to battery and other grounds.

Big thing is to check charging voltage, 14.2v is golden.
