Westjohns 85 sr5 xtra cab build
Well well well, it's been awhile my fellow yotatech friends but I'm finally back in the game, this Saturday I'm going to pickup a 1985 xtra cab, SFA, complete sr5 package with vertigo seats even, with the 22re, apparently it needs a clutch but runs , paid 1000$ bucks, couldn't pass this one up,
First things first, tune up and too fix this clutch and get rid of that horride body lift! Off too wrk!

Ordered new fuel filter, air filter, plus, wires, cap, rotor and an oil change, he also said part of the fuel line from the tank was leaking but he had it, I suppose that's a another project this weekend, along with a major cleaning and a slave cylinder replacement and possibly a clutch

Went to the pull apart and found new front fenders and the drive side vent window glass, next is a decent 4wd bed, kind of torn on this one guys, can't decide on a dedicated trail rig and every once and awhile daily driver or a full blown paint and restore back to factory, ideas maybe?

I've been debating that highly but in thinking of a DD/trail rig, maybe fix all the rust, marlin clutch, paint, sliders. 3in lift on some 33s or 35s with a regear and a locker in the rear and call it a day

for a clutch, don't get ceramic! i got one, and it's fine if all you do is race. but for dd'ing, it brings the suck. it's either engaged or disengaged, nothing in the middle. it's worse out on the trail.
anyway, i like eat_at_joes and drew303's rigs. they still street-drive them and can go off-road any time

According to the owner he already put a new clutch kit in it, he just doesn't have any pedal, I'm thinking it needs a slave cylinder, that or bleed, either way for a 1000 bucks I can part it out and part it out

For the past few days I've been looking for a some what decent bed, I'm going to have the truck repainted org color and have it redone to its original state with a small lift and some wheels Nd tires, maybe an ARB up front if I can find one too fit the 85 model

If you're still debating having it a trail rig/DD, I'd go with no lift and either 33s or 35s if you trim and pound. Those trucks looks sexy with minimal to no lift and big tires. That, plus a regear and locker, along with armour, will make it an unstoppable rig, as well as maintaining decent posture for DD duties.
