1984 Toyota Pickup 1/2 Ton Deluxe - Regular Cab Long Bed 4WD
Hey guys I just bought this Craigslist truck with 102,500 miles. I paid 2800 and I think I got a deal. The guy was a mechanic and said he was moving back home out of the US. He sold me all his tools too at a fire sale price. The truck also came with a cap (it's freakin heavy).
Overall, it's very clean with only a few issues. The springs in the bench seat sag just a little and there is a nice 6 inch long tear on the drivers side. There are big holes on the tops of the rear wheel wells that I'll have to repair. It's nearly all stock. The shocks need to go and I'm leaning towards Bilstein 4600s.
I don't know what kind of Build I'm going for but I'd like a nice around-town truck that's handy in some mud and snow. I've never had the chance to drive manual before but I bought the truck anyway and taught myself. None of the major car rental companies offer standard transmissions and neither do the rent-a-wrecks. I'm new to changing my oil, installing parts, and doing repairs so I'm sure there will be lots of questions. These are the pictures from the craigslist ad.

The 4x4 works.
The AC and heat both work.
The steering is not perfect and the fittings need to be greased.
The wipers, mirrors, and glass are all in fine shape.
Up close you can see that the last owner repaired rust on the rear wheel well and repainted it. The holes are located on the inside, hidden part.
A friend offered to put it on his lift and look it over real well. After we prioritize what it needs, I may want a bedliner.

Welcome to Yotatech. Looks like you got a clean truck to start with. A basic tool set will do a lot for these and plenty of information on here to help you get it to where you want it to be. There are going to be a lot of little issues on it but most are easily fixed. Find builds that are in the direction of how you want to go and get involved in their builds and you will get plenty of information. Looking forward to your build.

I want what bootscootboogie said - a utilitarian truck. I couldn't tell if this one was already lifted. Njtrekker said it's the stock height so I'm going to go with the Bilstein 4600 once I find a place to buy legit ones online. For the short term, I'll be doing mostly highway driving with some bumpy/off-road and snowy conditions. I can tell that this site is going to be a big help for me even though I'm not going to do the wild off-road mods. Thanks guys
