LINY4Runner's 2001 4Runner Build-Up Thread
So, August 1st was the three year annaversary of owning my truck and I was looking at old pics of her, and she's really come a long way...so I have decided to post a picture timeline of the last 3 years.
Meet "Summer"...
The first day I brought her home...{August 01, 2006}
however, she didn't stay stock long...I got the brush guard from my then-girlfriend, the KC lights from my friend Mike and the bike rack from my parents for my birthday in September, and added the 31x10.50R15 BFG MudTerrains to the stock wheels, which I painted semi gloss black in early October, 2006
Fast forward to February, 2007. I added a 2.5" coil spacer lift that I bought on eBay for $105. I know, I couldn't resist...

and later on in March, 2009, I removed my running boards (after much deliberation)
and then that night I started on my Mesh Grille...
Tax Day, while everyone was scrambling to get their taxes in order (I had already filed, recieved and spent mine in Feb) I was in my driveway installing a 2" Body Lift from 4Crawler. Unfortunately I had to lose the Grille Guard with the body lift, but my girl's dad owns a machine shop so we're working on fabbing it up to fit:

Here's a few pics from the photo shoot my girlie did last saturday (08/08). This was before the LC coils.
LAND CRUISER COILS!!!
Before (2.5" coil spacers, saggy springs, 2" BL):
After (Land Cruiser SE [9 wrap] coils, 2" BL):
I'm up 4 whole inches from the 2.5" lift, so taking the sag into account I would say these lifted my truck between 5" and 5.25" over stock!!
....nowww and unfamiliar predicament for 4Runner guys...I need to level out the FRONT now!

I fitted my new fender flares AND installed my NEW TJM T-17!!
The fronts were easy, a few trim screws and it was all set. The rears were the funky part, because my truck never came with flares, so there's no holes in my body for clips. And I wasn't about to start drilling. Instead I used OME Toyota FIPG, which I have a ton of, and it stands for Form In Place Gasket. I picked it over a regular glue because it's thick and it has body to it, as opposed to a super glue or epoxy which won't expand, it'll just run. It's basically black silicone, used on anything from oil pan gaskets to door seals to exterior trim. It's a great multi purpose adhesive. And like I said, I've got like 30 tubes of it left over at home.
So enough talkin', you're here for the pics!
FIPG set and drying:
the look of my truck has been completely transformed in six hours:
I also removed my low hanging hitch, added front and rear tow hooks and moved the spare to the roof

FINALLY got around to installing the parts that I've had sitting around for juuuuust about 8 months or so.
The parts I'm talking about are, of course, the 231mm brakes!
The monster 13WL caliper!
Did a little more baking...
a few coats shy of being installed...
booooooorrrringggg: (yes I need to re-spray the center caps)(and no, I'm not missing a lug nut, I took one off and said, "WAIT! I need a before shot")
everything all laid out
yucky
OEM 4Runner Rotor, 11 1/2"
OEM Tundra Rotor, 12 3/8"
it's almost comical
OEM 4Runner Rotor, 14/16"
OEM Tundra Rotor, 1 1/16"
INSTALLED!!

Nice, I love the red caliper w/ the red outline on your wheel, looks so hot (+ hotness because you have 17's on 33's. ). I'm doing my Tundra brake upgrade this weekend, I can't wait, I went with the 199 though, I doubt I would have been able to fit the 231's that well. Very very nice rig, the frozen mud picture is sweet!

Thread bump! Got to do some wheeling with Bryan this past weekend. We gave him a lot of crap about his "mall crawler" (jokingly of course) but I must say this truck DOES WORK! We had him running some gnarly black trails on sunday with OPEN DIFFS!

Okay so I've been totally slacking on the updates, so here we go!
Installed my Cobra 19 Ultra III a while back...mounted it under the keys and ran the mic over to the left side, cause I'm a lefty. Got a mirror tube mount antenna and put it up on the basket...
And......the 1st Gen Roll bar!!
and I hit 150k!!
