FS: '88 4x4 pickup, Illinois.
lots of PICTURES in the 3rd post below!
clean title in hand
i would like $2,200 out of it.
has somewhere around 180,xxx miles, will get exact mileage shortly, been a couple weeks since i have driven it.
i bought it Feb. of 2006.
it is 3.0 v6 5sp longbed regular cab.
has 31x10.5x15 tires on it with ALOT of life left in them.
i have replaced the timing belt at about 174,000miles as well as tensioner/spring and idler plus the waterpump.
also a new dist. cap and rotor at the same time because i originally thought that was what was broke.
new rubber molding around the windshield. new head and tail lights.
some cheapo fog lights mounted on the front bumper.
a new hidden hitch i just installed within the last 3months that is already rusted (still needs wiring done or redone)
CD player
new mirrors, but i think they are for a different year as the mount is a different style then what i replaced.
just recently replaced the starter and battery to engine block wires because of the no start issue that is common. cured that!
has a newer alternator on it (May of last year)
i also replaced the slave cylinder but it leaks, i dont believe i tightened it up enuf under the vehicle, its a PITA to get a wrench in there!
4wd works flawlessly. had alot of fun this winter when the snow storms hit us hard.
fuel sending unit is bad. goes completely empty when about 6gallons of gas is used up
some rot and rust on the drivers side cab corners. all body tho nothing structural, actually i guess it would be called the kick panel under the door.
previous owner had a cheap paint job done on it just to sell it.
i had a cheap exhaust put on it.
there is an oil leak somewhere. however it does not burn any oil or smoke at all! my guess is front or rear main seal, maybe both...
no tailgate cables, tailgate reflects this.
gas leaks from the gas tank. leak is only from the top and only when you fill the vehicle ALL THE WAY to the top. when i bought the vehicle it had bad rear brake lines and this leads me to believe that the brake fluid corroded the o-ring that seals the door to acess the fuel pump/sending unit (couple birds could be killed with one stone here when fixed)
if gas wasnt so expensive and this thing got better gas mileage then it does, i would not hesitate one bit to drive it cross country and back!
i drove it alot between Springfield and Chicago on a weekly basis and the only times she let me down was when the timing belt broke and the alt. died. both of those issues have been dealt with!
also, i read somewhere that the '88 V6 did not have the headgasket issue like the '89 and newer V6 3.0's did...whether thats true or not, i do not know but i havent read much of any '88 with that issue.
she starts right up (everytime now lol) and drives well
i just dont drive it anymore and plan on selling my 4wheeler as well. (which if anyone is interested in a package deal, i will load up a modded 2003 Yamaha Bansheewith extras in the back of the truck for the buyer for an extra $2500)
here are a couple older pics of it...
i can and will get more detailed pics and video of it to interested parties
if you are serious, call me @: 217-341-4043 i dont check this website much and that will be the quickest way to get a response from me or questions answered
