'86 4Runner for Trade
Putting this out there for anyone who might be interested…
Looking to trade my ’86 4Runner SR5 22RE/W56 for an ’85-’89 extended cab 22RE/W56 Toyota truck in similar condition. Really prefer an ’85 22RE, but I know chances are slim. I’ve put a good amount of time into it and really don’t want or need to see it go , but come to realize that I could better use a bed to haul stuff/get dirty, and can’t bring myself to screw with the 4Runner since it’s in original shape and it’s getting rare to find them like that.
Pretty much factory stock other than a few upgrades/replacement items (see below). I got it from the original owner who used it as a DD until the mid 90s, and then used it for hauling kayaks to the lake. It’s been my DD for a little under a year now, and never let me down. I’ve done lots of repairs and maintenance since purchasing last summer. Also have a stack of records from myself and the original owner dating back to ‘86. Interior is in immaculate condition, only thing I can think of is a little wear on the driver side seat from getting out of the truck, which is only wear with no tears or holes. Never been wrecked, body is straight with no dings. Always adult driven, and never been off road (other than a dirt road).
170,000 original miles.
Full SR5 package and everything works including air conditioning, rear window, inclinemeter, cruise control, rear heat, power windows, sunroof etc…still have the window sticker. The top does not leak as it has never been off.
Some Maintenance/Repair…
New Performance Radiator/Cap, hoses, clamps, thermostat and gasket
Redline MT-90 GL4 lube in transmission and transfer case
Bosch microedge wiper blades, front and rear
New 31x10.50” BFG All-Terrain tires w/ lifetime balancing, rotation and road hazard
BFG AT full size spare
NGK BYP5E spark plugs
NGK performance spark plug wire set
PCV valve and grommet
New Fel-Pro valve cover gasket w/ half moons & rtv.
New Fel-Pro valve cover grommets
Replaced heater valve and hoses
Pro Comp ES9000 Shock Absorbers
Pro Comp Add-A-Leaf (to fix rear sag)
Replaced factory 4.10 thirds (rear p-bearing was noisy) with 4.30 thirds, front and rear
Redline synthetic 75-90 GL5 hypoid gear oil.
Replaced head with factory take-off, which was Inspected, pressure tested, surfaced and cleaned. Also had a valve job.
All new top end gaskets.
New distributor cap and rotor button.
New Fuel Filter.
New Cat Back Exhaust. Dynomax muffler, 2 ¼” tubing w/ 2 ½” bends.
Some issues…It does have the typical quarter panel rust spots on the quarter panels from the stainless SR5 trim. I’ve cut out the rust and have been welding in new pieces as time allows. Hoping to have it finished with new paint this summer (The frame is solid with no rust). One small rust hole in the rear bumper. The trans is a little noisy in 3rd and 5th, but the oil drained clear and free of any metal and there are no problems with popping out of gear or rough shifting.
This would be a good stocker for someone to drive everyday or build up.
Located in Raleigh, NC.
*Lower valence has been removed in the picture. It is sitting in the shop waiting for paint.

Appreciate the replies, but not what I'm looking for.
Erik, thanks again. Your Ranger looks nice but have to pass.
Plans now are to keep the 4Runner and follow through with the original plan of restoring back to factory.

This original posting is for trade only...no cash sale. Haven't come across a trade deal, so I'm planning on picking up a project truck soon and stay with the runner as a DD.
My plans are to stay on track with restoring back to factory (or as close as possible), and sell at time of completion for something newer for the fam.
