that how much my dad runs in his suburban.....
like it says in post #15 take what the tire can hold.. .well use BFG AT 265/75/16 Load Range E as an example, it holds 3415#'s at 80psi. Thats about 42.7lbs per psi. An average 4 door taco, 2004, weighs 3705 pounds. Lets say a 60/40 weight distrobution. Thats 2225up front and 1480 out back, divide those in two, gives you 1112 one each fron tire and 740 on each back tire. Now take 1112/42.7 gives you 26 psi and 740/42.7 gives you 17psi. Now I would assume that 17 is probally a little low for the back tires, I would start at say 26 front and 24 rear and go from there.
And towing has nothing to do with psi, its the load placed on the tire. The goal is to run as much air as possible and still get a flat contact patch. This will give you the best tire life, decreasing the pressure will give you a better ride, but will not be as good on the fwy. Personally I change my psi for city and around town vs fwy trips.
