Fitment help.
Hey guys, I'm just curious if the stock aluminum rims found on Second Gen 4Runner will fit a 1985 Solid axle pickup? I seem to recall reading something regarding the backspacing on the aluminum ones, but (of course) can't remember if it fits or not.
Anywho, I did a quick search, but my search terms were WAY too broad to find an answer even remotely close.
Also, if they DO NOT fit, are there any 15" wheels that would fit found on any other brands of trucks that could be had easily at a wrecker? (Think GM, Dodge, Nissan, etc.) Since there isn't a single solid axle Toyota around here I was hoping I could do some cross-breeding just to get my 28" tires mounted to roll around on my 85.
Thanks in advance!

I know that the bolt pattern is the same for sure, but I seem to recall reading something to do with the tie-rod contacting the wheel, due to the funky back-spacing. I could just be mixing up my memory though, that happens all too often for me. Thanks though scuba, much appreciated.

Yep, solid axle factory wheels are approx. 3-3/8" backspacing:

while the IFS wheels are around 4-3/4":

And much more that 3-3/4" back spacing on a solid axle and the wheel (15") will hit the steering components. Wheel spacers would be an option if you wanted to run those wheels.

I am brand new to the site and also have an 1985 4runner and am also looking for some used wheels. I was wondering if there would be a problem with running 16" tacoma wheels on my 4runner because there is a lot more of those available in my area. Or would it be better to just get spacers? Thanks.

Backspacing issues would require spacers:

Thanks for your help. After your post, I went out and pulled a wheel from my wifes 06 tacoma and tried in on my 4runner. I'm a little slow but now it makes sense. Thanks again.
Where is the best place to order 1" spacers?
