Bridgestone MT/R's or Dueler M/T's Best One?

Bridgestone MT/R's or Dueler M/T's Best One?

Ok. I know that I'm beating a dead horse here, but I want a good agreesive, off road capable tire that will perform decently on pavement AND give me a long treadlife.

I've read that the Bridgestones are more round and are better quality overall in addition to lasting longer than the MT/R's. I don't intend to do ANY serious rockcrawling, but we do have some rocks on trails around here. They will be used some on trails and some in mud, but nothing too terribly nasty.

I have decided on 265/75/16's and I can get the MT/R's installed locally for $715 and the M/T's locally for $759.

The difference in price is so little that it comes down to treadwear and highway noise. Which one is best?

The M/T's will last longer b/c the MT/R's have a softer compound and will wear faster on the highway. As far as noise goes, I think they're about the same. Both are very good tires though and the differences between the two aren't much. If I were you, I'd get the MT/R's, because they're stronger than the M/T's.

I have the MT/Rs and will get something different next time.

The MT/Rs are great off road, but the on road vibration was terrible. I recently had them shaved and rebalanced using a road force balancer and now they are nice on the road. You just should not have to go through so much trouble to make the tires round enough not to shake the truck apart.

I am sure by the time the MT/Rs wear out there will be a better selection out. I would be willing to give up some off road traction for something that performs better on road.

So, I would steer you away from the MT/Rs based on my experiences so far.

i finally got to my lift and tires this weekend and must say that i am more than impressed with my Super Swamper Trxus M/T. one of the tires required nearly 11 oz. of weight but the other 3 were around 6 oz. each. balanced without the haweka adapter and they are perfect! no vibrations at all and they are ever so slightly louder than the michelin's that came off of the 4runner. to make a long story short the tire guy thought i was ruining my vehicle by lifting it and putting those tires on it, my dad though the same thing....the tire guy changed his mind after he drove it when they completed the alignment and my dad was extremely impressed with the tires and how well it handled on the 300 mile trip he drove it yesterday while towing an enclosed u-haul trailer(i busted my knee up in a dirtbike accident saturday and he drove me back to school).

I've had two sets of MT's. They have good treadwear and are reasonably quiet on the street. They are great in the mud. I momentarily bought a used set of MT/R's to run on my work truck and they were terrible. I don't do rockcrawling, but the MT/R's are terrible in the mud. I sold the MT/R's and went with 285 Mud Kings on the work truck. The Mud Kings took some balancing finesse, but they kick ass in the mud! My past experience with 285's on a stock Z-71 Regular Cab-I got 70,000 miles out of Dueler MT's and 87,000 out of Mud Kings-kept the MT/R's only one week. I currently have 32x11.50 MT's on my 4Runner and they are wearing a little faster, but will probably still get at least 50,000 miles.

From you what you described, I'd go with the Bridgestone's for sure. If you want a good highway ride and long tread life, you can forget about the MT/R's for both of those. That's what I've heard a million times now.
