Backspacing question?!

So over a month ago now, I ordered the Type A (4.5" backspacing) 16x8" steel wheels (found here; http://www.wheelersoffroad.com/4runnerwheels.htm) I get an email from them saying they're on back order and it's gonna be a while. Here I am now, 1 month later, I get an email from them today saying they might (might) get them in the beginning of 2010. I don't feel like waiting, considering I've had my lift and tires sitting in my garage for a month now. The wheels they sell are the Procomp Series 98 (they gave me the part number; PCW 87-6883S4.5T). Now I've looked and looked and looked and I can't find any the size I need with 4.5" backspacing, and I know 3rd gen Runners have the 4.5" backspacing. I found the exact ones, but the backspacing is 4.25" (http://www.4wheelparts.com/Wheels/Ro...pn=PCW98-6883M). Is there a way these will fit on my tires (Hankook Dynapro 285x75x16) at all? Does it matter that the stock size is 4.5" and this isn't? Thanks in advance for any help.

I looked at the rules, didn't see anything about that being an issue. My question fits both sections and I'm just trying to get a helpful answer.

https://www.yotatech.com/rules/updated/index3.htm

I can't find anything that mentions placing 1 of the same post in 2 different sections.

Well I dare say you are indeed correct. The rules do not state that specifically.

I will be sure that gets changed.

Meantime, please do not post more than one thread of the same topic/duplicate threads.

I will remember that, sorry for any trouble.

(hopefully) Back on topic now!

16" is 16". .25" of backspacing will not matter as long as you are running 16" rims, and not 15" rims. You will be just fine.

I have the wheel and tire sizes down, I'm just worried because stock backspacing is 4.5" and these I'm looking at are 4.25". But since I'm getting these aftermarket wheels should it not matter about stock?

IIRC, the smaller the backspacing number the further out it sticks. Again, 1/4" is not going to make a difference.

Yes, I believe you're right, I'm just making sure I don't run into any problems with rubbing or something not being able to go on correctly or anything.

The wheels? No. The tires? Yes.
4.25" BS is actually better. Wider tires may rub your upper control arms (search!). I'd recommend 4" or 3.75" BS wheels if going to 285/33" tires.

If you'd rather have aluminum wheels, the 8069 ProComps have 4" BS and barely cost more.
You can probably still get a sweet deal through Performance Products or 4wp.
Specific contact info is posted somewhere here: https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f2/p...up-buy-158642/

So it doesn't matter that the stock wheels have 4.5" backspacing w/ the tires (265's) I have on right now? Would you think I'd be fine if I went with those wheels then, with the 4.25" backspacing, or possibly lower? Yes I checked the 8069's out before, but I like the others a little better.

why dont you just go with a 3.75 back spacing? 4.5 is stock and with bigger tires it will cause some rub issues. I'm running 3.75 on my truck. dont see why you'd wanna go back with stock back spacing with oversized tires?

Yeah, I see what you mean. I guess I didn't fully understand the whole backspacing thing in the first place with aftermarket and stock size, but it makes sense now. So you think I should go somewhere between 3.75" and 4"?

yes... with 3.75 it'll give you more room between your UCAs. and it'll push your rims out further past your fender giving you that "aggressive" look. I run Cragar soft 8 rims with 3.75 back spacing... 150 for a set.. 15x8 is the size i run as well

Yeah I wouldn't want any rubbing on that. That'd be more of the look I'm looking for! There wouldn't be any problems with it rubbing on the fender or in the wheel well at all though?

Just purchased my wheels (link below), went with the 4" backspacing which was the lowest they had besides like 2.5" which was way out of range. Got a good piece taken off the final amount and since I can go get them within the next couple days from the location by me, only came to $305.98! Thanks for the help with my questions guys!
