255/85r16 spare tire location?

I've tried searching for the last 20 minutes with no luck, but maybe I was just using the wrong search terms...

I'm running 255/85r16 tires on stock wheels with the SS system 1.2 lift. I just got my hands on a full size spare mounted on an extra stock wheel today. I had been assuming I'd be able to squeeze it into the existing spare location (I swear I saw a picture/post of someone doing this), but I've had no luck. What do you guys running 255/85 tires do about your spare? is your spare less than full size? or do you have custom bumpers/tow hitches to allow larger tires (or alternate mounting locations)? it seems like I might possibly be able to squeeze the tire in if I didn't have an after market tow hitch, but not for sure.

whats preventing it? is it hitting on the hitch, or the L/R side of the undercarriage? IF its the hitch - get out the plasma cutter and make it fit.

it's hitting the hitch on one side and the panhard bar on the other. is it safe to cut into the hitch without effecting the tow rating?

I'm thinking I'm just going to take the hitch off and eventually get a custom rear bumper.

To answer your question, no. Don't cut your hitch if you tow. I'd either get a rear mounted tire carrier like the 2nd gens have (i'm sure with a little creativity you could make one fit) or get a roof rack mounted spare carrier.
