351W Swap

351W Swap
Currently I have a 3.slo in my 1990 Ext cab 2wd sr5 pickup. Wanting to go to a 351W. Going to keep it simple and to the point. I would rather keep the stock transmission instead of going through an entire tranny cross member and rewelding and drilling etc.
How much power can a stock R150 handle? I plan to keep it mild at 350-450whp. Eventually do a full build and at that time swap a early model 4.6 bell housing onto the truck and put a t56 behind the beast I will build the next few months.
What power can the stock 8" handle?
I have done research and read through COUNTLESS builds and no one specifies or if they do it is unclear as to the purpose. I will keep it to a DD so it will see some track but mostly 100 mile round trips to and from work daily.

I'm not sure the specs, but I know that the 8" should be fine long as you don't do burn the tires
the sooner you can put a t56 behind it the better since the R150 wasn't made for the torque and hp the 351 can create.
but as long as you baby it on take off and do mostly cruising speeds you should be good for a while, not sure if the bell bolts or the flywheel bolts will match, or if the pilot bearings are different sizes so verify that before you get to deep into the project, do your math and measurements then get everything you need to start with and it'll save you a headache later.
good luck! and welcome to yotatech

Thank you, I have never owned a toyota but this truck just doesnt have any b*lls behind it to put it nicely. It is a great platform and i see potential, if drop 10k in the motor but at that point I can build a very nice V8 swap and put money into others parts of the vehicle.
I debated on the 3.4L swap, common, but everyone said 350-450whp isnt realistic for a DD with boost. I was trying to be generous. I thought Toyota had more potential on a minor build being the makers of the jz platform.
