Codes p0758 & p1700

Just completed my first and very clean 3.4 swap. The truck runs very well and hauls a$$ on the freeway compared to the anaemic 3.0.

I am using Mitchell1 for my EWDs

I have 2 codes. p0758 which is shift solenoid b electrical and p1700 Enhance DTC which means speed sensor issue.

Speed Sensor. The 3.4 harness has 2 wires wht/red and yel/blk
3.0 trans harness has 1 wire brn/red. Per ORS instructions, the 3.0 trans brn/red gets spliced to 3.4 harness yel/red and the wht/red wire gets left open. This leaves one wire from the 3.0 harness unconnected - brn/blk. Which doesn't seem to have anything to do with the speed sensor. I got 1 ohm from ECU to connector

Shift solenoid B
I am getting a click when 12v is applied to Solenoid 2. The wire number on ECU connector is E7 pin #17. Rang the wire out and got 5.8 ohms. The solenoid has 18 ohms when measured from trans connector to ground.

While driving it shifts a little high. If I rail on it, it drags out 1st to about 3800.
If I'm easy on the gas, it shifts normally.

I know this problem has been solved and have done my searches to no avail.

I did swap computers for the hell of it and got the same codes.

Any ideas.

Codes solved!!!

I started with P1700 - speed sensor.

I have a 97 T100 A/T 4x4 computer
97 4runner harness
Original A340H trans.

The speed sensor is located on the left side of the transmission above the 4x4 signal box.

It has 2 wires coming out of it.

The 97 4runner harness has 2 speed sensor wires YEL/RED & WHT/RED
the 3.0 A340H trans harness speed sensor has 2 wires at the white connector BRN/BLK & BRN/RED.

The ORS instructions (and this applies to any swap despite ORS products being involved or not) say to splice the 4Runner YEL/RED wire to the A340H BRN/RED

This leaves the the WHT/RED on the harness side and the BRN/BLK on the A340H side.

THE BRN/BLK WIRE GETS GROUNDED AND THE WHT/RED WIRE DOES NOT GET CONNECTED TO ANYTHING!

This has solved both codes. The shifting into 2nd gear is nothing less than perfect. And the shifting has improved over all through all gears.

NO pending codes and no hard codes.

As I was reading your second post I was ready to go check the speed sensor but I see the code popped back up. Guess im going to have to drop my pan also and check the wiring in there

So tonight I tested the trans harness white connector. There are 6 wires the BRN/BLK and BRN/RED are for the speed sensors. the other 4 are shift solenoids. Of those 4, the black wire is the #2 Solenoid. I got an open reading.

Pulled the pan pulled the S2 solenoid, which is the fwd most one, and bench tested it. 0 ohms. New one on order. 160.00 ouch

Should be in by Thursday. Will update with results.

So I have installed the new solenoid and the code has not come back. Fingers crossed, I think I solved it.

In my previous post, I said the S2 solenoid is the fwd most one. I guess being under the truck and looking up I got confused. The S2 is actually the aft most solenoid.

I used to have the a340H/3.4 combo in my 95 4runner which was great till my shift solenoids went out.
Still have the po1700 and po141 which i wasn't worried about.

Did a 5 speed swap used resistors to "trick" the ecu all 3 solenoids and tranny temp sensor down to 2 codes, 20 mpg and the swap wasn't to hard.
That a340h is a power HOG.
