3.4 swap runs for2sec before shutdown...

I've been slowly working on my 86 22rte to 01 5vz swap for quite some time now, and today i finally gave her fuel. fired right up for 2seconds then flat lines. repeat repeat repeat. my wiring is a mess right now but I'm fairly sure it is run properly enough.

any Ideas what would cause it to say hello and then die so quickly. I have the oxy sensor pluged in, it just isn't set up in the exhaust yet, and I'm missing the vsv plug!?!? not sure what it does in the first place.

I have no obd2 hooked up which might make this a lot easier

And a good way to do that is?
I have an aftermarket pump that has a higher flow rate and rated for 40psi I believe the stock pressure is around 37-40?

The mass air flows should be the same readiness from one year to another right?. I have an 01 motor (4runner) and using a 99 (tacoma) air intake

Not sure where the brake was but MAF changed in there somewhere to different type and I don't think the newer and older gel right.

I am not sure of the break between years either but I know that when I was doing mine I had the MAF unplugged and it did the exact same thing as you describe.

Plugged it in and it worked perfect.

Even if its not unplugged, and assuming that you have the correct MAF, maybe a wire is loose in the plug, something is miswired and not getting to the ECM, or you have a bad MAF.

Thats where I would be starting at least.

I got a fuel pressure tester and I'll hop on that task this evening. Seems like that is what the general consensus is. I'll post up the findings once I have completed testing

Well when it came down to it my fuel pressure was up at 47 which is above the 37-43 constant running pressure required. it stays at full pressure while running so it isn't having a defueling problem in that sense. It does bleed of within a couple of secs after shutting the pump off, but to be expected with no check valve.

where to next????

I had the same problem and it did turn out to be a fuel delivery issue. In my experieince the new stuff doens't work properly the the orignal COR. The pump will turn on while cranking, but turn off whe the key goes back to the run position. The fix lies with a generic 4 terminal relay. I verifed it was the COR by running my multimeter to the terminals off the COR (fuel pump) that should have had power and wacthed it hit voltage when cranking, then drop when not. There is some info regarding this somewhere in this 3.4 swap forum that helped me. Of course you could always just hardwire your pump through a fuse to the battery and know for sure its running all the time for troubleshooting sakes. Good luck....D

kinda is hard wired from my key. as soon as it hits acc. the pump comes on and stays on. i grounded the original relay that ran to the fuel pump so it is always closed. for power all the time. like i stated I did have more than enough fuel pressure the whole time. it never went down till i killed the key
