opinions from past 22re builders
ok i have been using brand "A" el chepo oil in the 4runner
and will be building the head with new valves and larger cam, etc etc and would like to get your opinions on if I should go with synthetic now my options are a 4x4 synthetic blend, mobil 1 trisynthetic, or stay with el chepo true name is AP lube $.79 a qt
vrs $2.80 for the synthetic blend or $ 4.50 a qt for the mobil 1
and the next question is when i am reasembeling the head what shoul i pre lube the cam with? oil or some type of grease?
Thanks all!
this is my first time going soo deep into an engine...

Although some people will not agree, all non-synthetic motor oil is about the same. As long as it has the correct API service code or higher ie: SC,SD,SF etc. for your engine oil change interval is the most important thing IMHO. As for the lube for the cam, the S/M (1985)says use motor oil. I personally would buy some engine assembly lube, they should be able to get it for you at the auto shop. It's cheap insurance. HTH
