need info on swapping 4.3 into 82 toy

i have a 82 extra cab toy. i put a 4in procomp lift and 5.29's in last spring with 33'' tires. with these parts the worn out part of the old 22r is coming out. today i traded a buddy out of a 91 chevy pu with a good running 4.3 v6 and a bad 700r4 tranny. now. were do i find info on how to make the wiring all work. probly going back in front of toy tranny for now. any help is greatly appriciated

U guys must be reading my mind. Im getting so tired of babying the weak 22r along that i am getting ready to start stripping it, and start over. but with the weather here i am using the heck out off it. its been belly deap in snow and mud all day every day for 2 weeks. thanks for the treads, gave me some great ideas and gets me excited to tear into it. as soon as i get my high boy fixed so i have something to drive ill roll it in i think.

Check out AA (advance adapters) also they sell some parts your gonna need. Wiring is easier than you think. Just need really to wire up the fuel pump with relay, Starter off your ignition, and power to the comp, and pretty much good to go. (could be forgetting a wire or two lol)
Really easy swap and great choice. Pirate4x4 also has an entire thread talking about the 4.3 swap and motor info. My thread may be a little vauge with some of the wiring and all that and most the stuff Ive done are custom little things. Good luck and have fun

yea fillsrunner4, i have been all through advanced adapters. as soon as i get time i will start stripping it down. im debating now using a chevy tranny and transfer. i like the idea of an auto tranny. this thing gets used hard daily and i think it would be nice to put it in gear and go. i also have a coulple small block v8s laying around. i dont know how radical i want to go though. how bad is the v8 going to squish the pro comp lift on the front? iv always been the go big or go home kinda guy but i want it usable. pretty sure then id need axles, were does a guy stop.lol

Stay with the 4.3 its alot lighter and still great power. Not sure your front end will like that power of a V8 one bit lol. best bet is SAS. IFS is junk. Also your gonna blow up your rear 5.29s easy with that weight and power of V8. Ide also recomend using the 5speed instead of the auto. If you were gonna go V8 ide say slap in an auto. But youll like the option and power better with 5spd IMO and that 4.3L. Do you have the entire donor rig? great option if you do is take absolutly all of its electrical and dash, fuse blocks and all that good stuff and mock it into your rig. basicaly make your rig a blazer with yota body.

My vote is stay V6 and go 5speed. makes fab work a little less to as you can retain stock tranny location without modding somthing up to make the auto fit

yea thats what i thought. hopefully i can get the bellhousing ordered today. I have the entire rig, its a 92 chevy half ton. one of those w/t trucks. i was thinking more along the lines of staying simple with the wiring and gauges. heater, radio, fuel gauge and tach. rewire everything with a new fuse block and relays. ohh and i probly need some lights to lol. thats another question, will i have any problem with oil pan clearance. my truck is an 82 extra with a 4 in procomp spring lift. looks like theres a lot of room?

I dont think youll really have a prob. If you do you could always make your own mounts and raise the motor a little. I think they sell clearence pans too maybe. check out northwest offroad too. little pricey but they have some info
