22RE into 77 FJ40
I am rebuilding a 77 FJ40. Due to gas prices I am considering putting

I don't think that would be a good swap. Prob end up getting the same mileage you get now.
When I did my V8 swap, I got slightly better mileage, and tons more power.
Did you look into doing a Chev 4.3L V6? Same adapter as V8.
Also, your parking brake is on the transfer output of the cruiser.

If you think the Fj is underpowered now, try putting a smaller engine in there!
For the amount of fab you have to do, dont waste your time on a 22RE. MAYBE a 2LT diesel, but you would be much better off with a 3KT diesel, or something similar.

Jarhead Huh? Me too, drove Shi-ters out of Hawaii, and FAC'd on M1A1's.
