Post Rpm problem

okay as i of getting off work tonight i have notice that my RPM wasn't working right. I drive a 97 T100 3.4 4x4 v6 automatic, however i notice this a while now but it wasn't this bad until tonight. What i mean by this is the RPM should be like at 1000RPM and up, but its at 0 RPM. RPM still work when driving but as when i make a stop on the light it'll go right to 0 RPM. Now i think this mint be the air sensor on the intake but not 100% on this. can anyone point me to the right direction. i had made a video of it but this desk top can't up load it so when i get home I'll upload it on my laptop. Oh their is NO Check Engine Light on.

The tachometer is fed a signal from the ECU. So it has to be either wiring, the ECU, or the tachometer. Have you checked all yer grounds carefully and cleaned the contact surfaces?

yea i cleaned the surfaces out today and i took my truck in about 2 to 3 months again to have them put in a speed cable due to the speed wasn't working (at Toyota). yea but i have this going on a while now so not sure but as of today itself it working normal again, and do you think it may be the heat cause summer is around the block. however hears the videos http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ozBAaivpLE

You could just pick up an Ultra-Gauge and read the RPMs directly from the ECU...as well as a few other gauges and monitor yer MPGs.

My Ultra-Gauge thread...

I would still double check yer grounds...especially the ones behind the kick panels.
