Starter motor wiring
Just in need of starter motor wiring help. I have a diagram but I am not sure what terminal is what. As far as i know the smaller clip is the solenoid switch (from the ignition barrel or starter relay), the lug is direct power from the battery and the unit earths through its mounts.
The problem is all of these terminals seem continuous with each other. Ie when grounded through its mounts both the smaller clip and the lug is also grounded. If 12V is provided to either terminal a short occurs. I have tried this with 2 starters I have, one I know was defantly working when i took it out of the truck (although a while ago now).
Note that I don't have any stock wiring anymore, the loom is being built from scratch, the engine is controlled via aftermarket ECU.
Any help would be appreciated...

Disregard guys...all I had on me when i posted it was a test light so i thought all terminals were shorting with one another. It also didn't help that the battery was down to 10V and it wasn't doing what I expected it to do.
