I am getting a slight humming over the radio when the lights are turned on.

I am getting this humming in a 2000 4runner when I turn the lights on. Has anyone experienced this? I tried to search to the forum but had no luck and will try to search it again. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Where is the humming coming from? I had a Nissan that I would get humming from the speakers when the lights were on, it would get louder as rpm's would rise, it was a loose ground in the stereo.

are you running a aftermarket amp? aftermarket head unit? if you are running a amp , check that you power wirre isn't near any ignition parts and it doesn't cross the factory fuse box. also check your rca's if you have a aftermarket amp. if everything is stock , check to make sure nothing shifted or came lose behind the radio i.e. antenna , wiring harness. like stated above, check your grounds. good luck.

I am presuming it is the speakers because there is no hum over the radio when the lights are off or the radio is off. Thank you for the info on the loose ground.

89trknwby thanks, as my user name implies I really have no clue and I especially have no clue about the aftermarket stuff but I do know that it is all stock and will check for lose stuff. Thanks.

i would say you have some interfirance from another source. when i use my VHF radio it sends all sort of funky signals through my truck. for example my lights will sometimes flicker, or my radio gets a slight fuzzy noise. so if you have recently installed something electrical, it could be that.
