Widshield cowling installation

I need to re-install the front windshield cowling (the plastic piece that covers the windshiled wiper area) when I finish my HAM radio antenna install.

There is a gasket where the cowling meets the lower windshield. When I removed the cowling, this gasket was adhered to both the cowling and the windshield glass.

It appeared that the gasket was purposefully glued to the cowling with somthing that had the consistency of rubber cement. Where the gasket was stuck to the windshield, it appeared that it may have been a by-product of the windshield installation adhesive having been "globbed over" the olwer edge when the glass was installed. According to the windshield glass install procedure, that front glass area should have been cleaned off.

I cannot find a procedure for installing the cowling, hence my questions:

1) What type of adhesive to adhere the gasket to the plastic cowling?

2) Shoud the gasket really be adhered to the windshield? If so, use standard windshield adhesive?

Thanks all.

Just use some rubber cement to glue it to the cowl, but i wouldn`t glue it to the windshield.

Thanks... rubber cement is about what it looked like.

I think I also agree with not adhereing to the windshield. Thanks for the reply.

Whelp.... rubber cement won't adhere to the cowling plastic. After an hour of futzing with it, I went ahead and used epoxy to adhere the gasket to the cowl.

I guess either the cowl and gasket will all come off as a single piece next time I need to remove it, or I'll be ordering new parts... 'cause they are sure stuck together now!
