I usually fill up at the first station I come to when my light comes on. It has been between 13.5-13.9 every time for the past ~30k miles that i've owned her. That is about 235 miles, but sometimes as low as 190.

The most I've ever put in my 2001 (manufactured in october of 2000) is 16.4 gallons, and I've never had my gas light come on. I was between 1/4 and empty when I put in over 16 gallons.
I usually will get 250-300 miles to a tank, but I'm a chicken and usually fill up right around 1/4 of a tank. I live in the mountains, and never drive faster than 60 mph because of the lower speed limit. However, on the highway I can easily get over 300 miles before I get down to a quarter of a tank.

ok this is dumb but i had a civic before and the prior owner must have drove over something, well in the fist week of driving it i got to a quarter tank and it would not run, had it towed to a shop and 100 bucks later the problem was 7 dollars in gas, the tank was dented so the pump would not pick up the rest.

It's not good to run the tank low, it's hard on the pump.
I filled my last vehicle with gas light, I filled up before the light came on.
Because if the light came on and I did a sharp turn the truck stalled out.
Go Jeeps!

My '07 Taco -- I've run it to just below E with light on. I filled up the tank and only fit up to 1.5 gallons from what the manual says the tank will hold. I understand that the last half gallon or so is useless gas that just sloshes around in there.
I'm kind of afraid to run out of gas in this thing because of the posts I've read on here of people's vehicles not starting after running out and filling up.

I think the problem with those people that can't starts it is that they try over and over to start it with no gas and that messes it up. If you know you are out then fill it up and it usually works fine.
