Tranny input and output seals???
.......... I'm getting ready to pull my tranny(AGAIN), because the rear main seal of my new engine is leaking, wish I'd known about the crank repair sleeve. Anyway, I'm wondering if there is a simple oil seal for the tranny and transfer input and output that I should replace while I have it out??? My Chilton book doesn't say anything about it or have any schematics but I'd assume there are some seals I could replace. Any input would be greatly appreciated, thanks for your time..................TIM

The manual transmission will have a front cover assy which is bolted to the front of the trans over the input shaft. It will have a gasket or 'O' ring to seal it against the case, and a lip seal inside it to seal the input shaft. Each of the output shafts from the transfer case will also have a lip seal for the yoke shaft. You may have to go to a trans shop for the seals, or Toyota directly. Just remember that the front cover of the trans usually acts as the retainer for the front input shaft bearing, and you will have to make sure the bearing stays seated in the case when you remove the cover.
