okay in my search for the "perfect" muffler for me...i have come up with a few questions.

i'm particularly looking at Magnaflow's because of their superior quality to Flowmaster.....

This is going on a 1992 4runner V6/5speed.

i want something that is definitely noticeable, but not something as loud as glasspacks or straight pipes.

that leaves me (in magnaflow) with the 14" magnaflow.

okay, the question is....is there a difference in sound between the Round 14" or the Oval 14"?????

other than the price?

i'm also open to other options as well.

not wanting to spend over about $80 on the muffler.

straight through design is best (like magnaflow)..since i'm also going for flow.

i'm NOT going to be running a CAT..or i will run a Hi-Flow CAT, or i will Gut my current CAT.....don't preach to me about legalities...

drone on the highway is not a big problem, nice DEEP and loud sound at idle would be nice.

since everyones opinion is different, youtube links or other links to videos is greatly appreciated!

Trying to be my twin 92 4runner, eh camo?

well... my muffler is $150 + shipping/tax = 162 ish.

but you can get a maganflow straight through design for roughly 60-80 bucks. should sound the same.

I'm not catted, you know that, but I ran a Hi - flow for a little while. sounded the same as it does not, just barely less decibels.

I'll post a video of my truck Idling since you want that nice rumble.

Also, if I were you, get the straight pipe welded in. the only reason I have a test pipe is because I need to pass smog being in california. but The flanges get a little leaky when the sealant gets old. so refrain from using flanges...

if you have any questions, lemme know

The case length on my Borla is roughly 13-13.2" ( its very short, and loud ) Also, being that its a turbo-style muffler. Its so free flow. which is why I get that loud roar. Its basically a straight pipe with small baffles in it. Its giving my straight piped exhaust a nice "tone" instead of sounding like a tractor.

Here's the exact muffler I ordered
part# = 40981

The Borla mufflers sound really good on the 3.0. I had a catback system on my '92 Runner and I really liked it!

If you get the magnaflow you will love it! I have it and sounds awesome! Low rumble at idle, sounds GREAT on a cold start lol and real nice tone to it throughout the rpms, sorta quiet at freeway speeds but you can def still notice it. I'd shoot a video for you but the welds broke off from my muffler so it sounds like straight pipes right now hahaha

Oh and when u decellerate in lower rpms the magnaflow likes to make popping noises, well at least mine does

i don't want to drop some cash on a muffler that won't be loud enough for me...ya know?

with that being said..i don't want to go with Flowmaster...because the plates on the inside...equal BAD FLOW...(DUH).

i want to go with Magnaflow or Dynomax (straight through design).

now with THAT being said...i have found out that Magnaflow makes an 11" muffler (17" overall...but 11" case length)....4"x9" oval.

i think i want to try out THAT muffler..it's 2.25 single in single out (2.25" outlet too)...i think it will definitely satisfy my loud exhaust needs...lol and if it happens to be TOO loud for me...then i will add a Hi-Flow Cat.

anybody have anything they want to add?

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MPE-11365/

theres a link to it on Summit Racing.

i'm going to talk to my muffler guy in my college town and see how much he'd charge me to do the system (without him seeing the truck it'll be hard to tell...just lookin for ballpark figures though)..then i'll talk to my exhaust guy in a nearbuy town that i USUALLY use...but he's a flowmaster guy lol.

i'm thinking, with the price of the muffler, it'll be around $170? or so....JUST FOR NOW i'm going to dump the exhaust right off the muffler..or just a little ways back. because of my financial situation.
