Did some digging in the archives and found a lone picture from member enrgetic99, whose well-regarded 93 was totaled a while back. Anyway, I didn't think it right to steal the photo so I'm putting the link here for those interested in Pewter Pearl. Nice looking. Sorry for your loss 99. I'll post a pic of my newly-paneled and newly pewter pearled 87 when I get it back in the next week or so. H.

I finally gave in to having the wheelwell rust handled professionally. I had kept things at bay for a few years with POR-15, but it looked increasingly bad. When I was inspecting the passenger rear 1/4 early this fall, a whole section of sheet metal gave way and disintegrated in my hand. The shop I used was excellent, a guy who does restorations of all kinds, Mustangs, MGs, VW microbus, Jags. New panels, patches, and new paint came in at $2K. Worth more than the truck itself (at least according to BlueBook) but I love driving it every day (22 mpg) and plan to keep it a lot longer than its already 188K miles. Originally white, now Pewter. The photos were taken before I washed all the dust off it and the soft top. I have the hard top hanging in a barn at my parent's place about an hour away, so I plan to paint that myself around Thankgiving. I'll balance out the Pewter by painting the top black. The shop did a great job pulling emblems and masking off other items, like the rear bumper that is welded to the frame. They left some fasteners off some interior trim-- but if that's my only complaint, I'll be happy. Believe me, it was not just an afterthought to sink significant money into a 20 year old truck-- but I thought it was a relatively good deal and the truck's only weakeness has been its sheet metal. H.
