Why 21 or 23 spline? I don't get it? 4.70 T-Case Gears
please help a newbie out.
Please tell me or link me information regarding where 23 spline would apply and where 21 spline would apply. I see trail-Gear offers both. THanks in advance.

23 spline is usually stronger than 21 and came in 87-88 gear driven transfer cases and 21 usually came in 79-85 but if your ordering 4.7 gear go with 23 splines

I am just confused what spline count is made for which transfer case. I have a 93 4Runner V6 manual with stock transfer case. Can all of these transfer cases use 21 or 23? Will other things need to change with different splines? Thanks

I think v6's came with chain driven cases, which will not work for the 4.7 gears. You would need to get a v6 to gear driven case adapter. Then get the 4.7 gears for the gear-driven case. I think trail gear sells the adapter too, if you want to go that route.
Hope this helps.
