^^^ that's a viable option. A should net you close to 4" if not you can always add a longer shackle to the mix. But you have to find someone to weld and relocate your front spring hanger. And either double shackle the rear or relocate the rear hanger as well.

I've got a question about this...

In the write up (if i understand it right) he says you dont have to lift the front IFS... but the swap is suppose to give you ~4" of lift. Isnt that contradictory or am i just reading it wrong??

To the original poster... I'm a novice as well and Ive got a 2" 4crawler IFS Susp lift and 2" 4Crawler body lift and its PLENTY of lift for 33's. Borderline too much but i like the look. If that 63 spring swap improves the ride as stated, Im in.

No bracket lift or blocks. Nothing more than a 1" body lift IMO.

This is the correct answer. You want to keep your COG low. You will be miserable with a bracket lift and blocks with 35's for a daily driver, AND... it really won't really make it any more capable off road. The auto locker will, but that will make daily driving suck too.

i have 1.5" bj spacers, 6 or 6.5" shackles, a welded rear and an open front diff and 31" cooper stt's..... i go plenty far, farther than my friends with the big lifted chevys who only lifted them to look cool and a few jeeps who have done the same. they want to exterior cool but dont have the interior needs(gears lockers etc). im content with my setup for now and am ordering sliders soon. after the sliders im saving for the solid axle and 35s with a front locker dual t-case and the others once i get the money to do it right.

You dont need a big lift to go far. ifs in the early years up until '95 works better stock with no mods.

Also, i have had my truck for over 3 years now and havent done alot majorly to it becasue i want something that i will always feel good about and want whats best for the trails around me and my likes. i had to hold back alot from getting a body lift for the cool look and really decided it wont do anything for me on the trail to get me farther. Whatever you do though, good luck and have fun doing it

Thanks bob and xxxtreme22r, I was looking for an answer to my question about obtaining a lower CG (that search bar is great for finding info ). So the block lift, as seen below, on my rig is going to be taken off (at least that is my thought for now). Let me know what you guys think (check out my build thread for my rally from England to Mongolia to get a better idea of what I am doing), all advise is welcome.

Blocks are terrible. remove and discard. just get a locker. that is all. I was riding around on 32s and stock springs and running gear for almost 2 years, just recently went with a small lift. but my previous set up took me everywhere I wanted to go. use the "search" feature for info about this, there are a TON of threads that cover it.
