So i just got the new waterpump in and put coolant in it. Let is run for several minutes and then began to drive it. It started to makes this rev sound. it would rev and then release, it kept doing it and when i was driving. the heater was just blowing warm air. it began to slowly move to H. the overflow tank was boiling once it got to H. I checked the tubing and no external leaks i could find. the one thing i did notice tho is that my top rad hose was hot and my bottom rad hose was not. it was cold. Any Suggestions on what it could be??? Thanks.

Did you bleed the coolant system of air?

X2 on the air bubble. You have to get the front end as high as possible to burp any air out of it. I'd try that first, then maybe investigate the thermostat.

Yeah what the other guys said. I had a similar problem when i flushed my radiator.

If it's boiling in your overflow it may be a faulty radiator cap.

I had the same type of problem a while back, the radiator cap was junk

new cap and burp the engine,remember to use the correct antifreeze for toyota engines

Got a call from my girlfriend that water/coolant is leaking from above the lower radiator hose on my 97 3.4L runner. Had a bad radiator 6 months back. Possible causes or starting points as I get home and dig into it?

i have a 94 toyota pickup 22re 2wd. Can you help me locate the bleeder?? usually i top of the radiator, start the truck and i can see airbubble come out. but today it was overheating in about 15 mins and the bottom hose was cold so i was gulping both hoses and the bottom hose started to warm up. the idle seemed high and i rember last time the idle drasticly went down. How do i know for sure that there is no air in the cooling system? i have no idea where the bleeder is on my 22re..

The way I bleed my cooling system is to let the truck run with the radiator cap off...

To make this simple I put a tee in the heater hose highest part in the cooling system.

Remove cap from Tee while filling radiator all the air is pushed out no more air pockets.

I did get the parts to put a bleeder screw in the tee but never did get around to doing it. To many projects not enough time.

Just park the rig facing up on a hill, pop the rad cap, fill, turn heat all the way up. and let run for 10-15 min... topping off as needed.
That usually burps my system just fine.
