Ticking in engine

I just replaced the water pump on a '88 yota 22r. Now I have a ticking noise coming from the alternator side of the engine. Sounds like electricity arching and not so much a metal tapping. Any ideas on how to pin point it.

Run your hands over all the wiring and see which one shocks you.
or Look for it at night with all the lights off you may see the arc.

Use the finger test!!!! I'm sure it will be a lightening experience we all would enjoy watching!!!

RMA has it correct though...turn the lights off and feel around a bit. Could also be a plug wire arcing.

I found the problem, about 4" of the alternator belt had sheered off causing the noise.

That's not as exciting as I was hoping... at least you found the issue and it's an easy fix.
