Swap Ideas 1995 Toyota 4Runner
Just looking for some ideas on what to swap my 3vze motor, with auto tranny, with something else. The simplier the better, but im looking for a little more low end power to tow

If you want to go simple(diesel) Maybe a 1.9TDI 1Z/AHU? I am going to give it a try in December and see how it treats me, starts out at 100hp and 150ft/lbs torque and they are pretty easy to modify should be easy to surpass the power of the 3.0VZE with some injectors, inter cooler, new turbo and tuning. You get all of that torque at a lot lower rpms where you need it, the 3vze is supposed to have 189ft/lbs of torque at 4600rps but I rarely get up into the 3's. You can go electric control or get a mechanical pump conversion which I am going to do. I have been doing a lot of research, with the right bell housing and adaptor kit, it would be an easy install if you have all the right tools and be a great little power plant.
If you want to stay gas, I would go for the 3.45VZ-FE, it pretty much bolts right in and there is a lot more support for them such as factory superchargers and exhaust systems. You will get forty more ft/lbs of torque right off the bat with this swap and with a supercharger you should have plenty of torque for towing.
I'm sure that some other people have a few good ideas, there are so many options, it just depends on how much you want to spend.

i see you live in Pa and if i remember right the smog laws arn't very strict i'd go with a toyota/lexus 1uz-fe if you rip most of the vacume lines and smog off this motor is very simple it has great low end and will out rev higher and put more hp to the wheels than a SBC plus inchworm makes a adapter where you can drop in the lexus motor and tranny and connect it to your factory t case the tranny's are very strong to the only thing i don't like about the tranny's is the stall is very low but you can get a high stall converter on ebay for around 350
