I just bought a '90 that has a beat up body and brand new 22re in it. The problem is the guy I bought it from took a grabber green rattle can to the bay before dropping the engine in. It there any way to fully remove all the green and repaint while the engine is in without taking the engine out? Also the wiring harness got blasted among other things that should not be painted, can I cover them up or remove the paint? I hope this is a lot of work and not hopeless. The guy must have been totally faced when he did this.

Welcome to yotatech. Now you have 3 choices depending on what the truck is going to see. 1 you leave it green and paint the rest of the truck ''not likely''
2 you pull the motor and spray it all with paint remover and prime it and repaint the whole truck at once and make it a show truck while your at it.
or 3 you do the same thing the po, previous owner did and take some paint to it and try to make it not as noticable. good luck with it, and I wouldn't go pulling the motor out just for paint unless you have a good reason like a clutch or spun bearing in the motor.

Thanks for your input. Well its going to be a "clean" truck, not sure about show, but nice daily driver that can hold its own in the snow and the hills. It sounds like a rattle can my be my best bet. On some of the removable plastic parts, (like the fuse box) is there anything I can use to strip the paint off safely? Thanks again!
