What do you mean by shifting? Are you saying it wont go into gear?

The guy that put it in said it may be the slave cylinder?...As he did bleed the line and that did not do anything?

It could be problem with slave cylinder, or adjustment. Also could be problem with pilot bushing/bearing for input shaft in rear of crankshaft.

Red face

Hi Creek welcome!!

Be nice to know where you live .

Did you get this truck and never did drive it till the new engine and clutch were installed??

Do you have someone who can push the clutch pedal while you watch if you have full range of movement on the slave cylinder .

Possible problems that are easy fixes .

Clutch still needs some more bleeding.

The rod on the Master cylinder needs adjusted.

Could be a bad or wrong slave cylinder..

For the rest of the problems you will be pulling the transmission out .

Forgot to install the throw out bearing or have it in backwards .

Wrong clutch in correct box

transmission is just shot but will go in gear with engine off just fine because nothing is moving

I do wish you well and hope it is simple.

I would recomend that you alse replace the clutch master cylinder, they can go bad and not apply enought presure to the slave cylinder, and it would also be a good idea to replace the shifter seat and bushing. I had to do all of these on my 86 4Runner and now it shifts very smooth.

Considering the age of our trucks and that alot of people don`t take care of them as well as they should, when you buy it sometimes you end up buying all the problems it has from lack of maintenance, but once you get all of the problems fixed you will have a truck thats very reliable and will still be on the road for many more miles and years to come, so don`t give up on it.
