I'd like to get your opinions on using a Body Lift on a truck that's built for offroad use.
I'm not talking mall crawler here. In every town there's at least one that has a truck you need a ladder to climb into. That's a whole different topic.
I'm interested in offroad ready inspired ideas and best practices.


What height would you consider the limit for a body lift?
What did you take into consideration when choosing the height for your body lift?
Do you have any body lift horror stories, or stuff you didn't think of till the truck was half lifted?

Search for it, this has been discused many times.

Plenty of people run body lifts without problems..
I wouldn't go more than a 3" body lift.
If i were to do it i would throw a 1-2" one on it personally.

Its just up to you, some say there are pros and cons to it, but ultimately it will be you to decide what to do.

I hear nothing but good things about 4crawler.com and the products he sells, including the body lifts.

just to make things easy on your search, i have a 2in body lift i put on when i turned 15... i regret it and i am going to take it off and have to REDO ALL MY SLIDERS AND BUMPER when i SAS. so if you're going to just wheel it every now and then, body lift will be ok i guess. but if you want to get serious later on, just save up the money and do it right the first time and do a suspension lift.

x2. IF, and this is a big IF you have no desire to SAS and don't want to cut your floors a body lift with a Motormount lift of 1~2"s can give you enough room to flat belly. If you get into wheeling alot more than likely you will want to swap a solid axle into the truck. Luckily we are blessed with these forums, so you can really research what mods would benefit you best. Really do some reading and see what would help your rig with your terrain first.

I have an 88 4Runner with an automatic and went with a 1 inch body lift because going higher is supposed to affect the auto shifter linkages requiring other patrs to be installed and linkages need to be adjusted. I bought mine from 4crawler.com. Happy with it, happy with 4crawler.com. I added a couple extra washers and ended up with 1.25 inches.

1, 2, 3 inches is what you see advertized, but other heights are out there.
If you replace any hardware, make sure it is grade 8. Install is pretty easy. Do one side at a time.
