spend some time reading in the 3.4 Swap Folder...many of your questions will have answers there

Should have asked while I was out there over the holidays. I could have shown you my swap and answered a bunch of your questions. Short answer is yes, a '97 3.4 will bolt up just fine.

I paid $2000 for mine, complete from fan to flywheel, intake to exhaust, A/C compressor, power steering pump, alternator, computer and uncut harness from D&M Recyclers over in Westbank.

What he said...even if you do find a donor engine (or a written-off vehicle) for $1000, you'll still need a bunch of stuff to swap it successfully. Exhaust crossover, for example.

Im just looking to spend less than $1000 on the engine never said anything about the work. I myself do not plan on doing the work, i have alot of mechanically enlcined friends that are looking for a project. But i need it done in a week or less so i may end up paying for it at my mechanic but he gives me a discount so whatever. Im just needing to find an engine before i go because i don't want to have to pay for it and pay him for finding it. Please if there is anyone in kelowna that is able to swap it for me msg me i need it done asap.

I got my 2003 3.4 from a rolled 2003 V6 Tundra for $1000, but it was automatic. It included everything including harness, accessories, o2 sensors, cats, MAF, ecu, etc. Then I needed the ECU from a manual, so I got a 2002 Tacoma manual ecu for $75 from car-part.com. Keep in mind that they went to drive-by-wire in 2003, so that is one more electrical issue to deal with, I opted to avoid it and go with the 2002 throttle body and ECU.

Also, the guy who posted the thread in the first link (CORunner93) is a very nice guy, and answered alot of my questions over yahoo messenger when I was doing my swap. (Kinda volunteering him out... Haha hope he doesn't mind)
