I had a 86 that I rebuilt the engine in. After putting the engine back in the truck and reconecting everything I had the same problem. Turn the key it would hit and and then stall. After looking for a while I found a main ground wire I had not hooked up. It was in the engine compartment and it conected to the intake I belive it has been a while and rember exactly where it was. Anyway bolted it to the engine and it fired right up. Check for loose wires, might not be your problem but could be. Good luck!

Like i said its been a good while since I did mine, but I think my problem came from the 3 wires you mentioned. Wish I could be more helpful.
As for long travel springs I did a SAS on my 86 and had 3" springs from Trail Gear and they were great. Lots of travel.

u just need 2 convert that thing to a five speed, make a post about it and see if anyone can tell u how difficult it is, i have never done one but im assuming the worst thing would be the peddles. good luck with ur runner, atleast it runs now and you will figure out the rest as u go
