At the end of summer maybe my funds will be up and i can get a locker for the rear. I want to know should i get a Aussie locker or some other type? I had a ez locker in my 87 truck and i hated it it was so sloppy and scary on the highway i ended up miller locking it.

I have never heard anything bad about aussies. Reliable, cheap, fairly smooth operation.

Well if you dont want to deal with the problems of an auto locker why dont you throw in a selectable locker. More expensive, but you will get that smooth driving you want.

Having an Aussie Locker made me no longer desire a selectable locker like an ARB. Nothing like the experience you describe on the hwy, in fact, I don't think I ever felt it going faster than 20mph

there are some great reviews on aussies on here. i have a lock right cause i was ordering a few things from mc anyway and thats wat they carry. i love it. if aussies really are a lot smoother than the lockright i really dont understand how. i hear mine very rarely while in a parking lot at low speeds but you cant ever feel it back there besides on the trail. and there its sick. i agree completely if you just want the best bang for your buck dont bother with anything more than an aussie or similar. I highly recommend them

i didnt think they made Aussie lockers for v6 trucks??? Where can you find em?

They are sold at http://www.offroadlockers.com/, there is no physical store that sells Aussie Lockers. Yet ship pretty quick when in stock. There is now a V6 Aussie locker that Offroad lockers makes, model XD-24930 as opposed to model XD-20830 for the 4 cyl diff.

Thanks man. how are they compared to the lockrights? i have been searching and reading up on lockrights for months but now i might have to do some more researching.

If you hated the EZ Locker you'll hate all the rest. They all operate the same and all have their quirks. Lockrites have a reputation for failing where as the AUSSIE doesn't but they act the same.

You still cant 'drive' into a parking spot, you cant do a U-turn very fast, you have to back up and turn slow, as with any forward sharp turning at slow speeds, its finesse.

It'll act funny on wet pavement and occasionally have every head in the parking lot looking at you when it goes "BAAAANGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!" and sounds like your axle just cracked in half.

They're autolockers, love em or hate em. End of debate.

I doubt that's the case, as I've driven around an Aussie Locker for 2 years, 20 000 miles or so, and haven't the faintest what you're talking about when you say they act weird on wet pavement or that they routinely "BANG". Obviously, some lockers ARE different than others.

i just installed an aussie on sat. so far it kicks ass.been pretty hard on it and barley know its there in the parking lot.had to turn really sharp and try hard to make it buck or click.otherwise never felt it.when i took it offroad today and really noticed it when i went through a bunch of washouts and up hills never put in 4wd once.

If you plan on any regular road driving, you will find that an ARB or toyota e-locker is ideal.

All lunchbox lockers are really the same, they're simple, rugged, cheap, and quirky on pavement.

i disagree so far with a lot of the negatives people say on lunch box lockers. mine is only noticeable when i stick my head out the window in a parking lot i can hear it click. a lot of guys running them never look back and spend the extra money else where. many guys have run them for years. after a week of driving with it you will learn proper throttle control and make almost any feeling of it being there on pavement disappear

i daily drive mine so we'll see.so far so good will check back when i drive it for a week to work and back.

so even with manual locking hubs, a locker up front will affect steering that much? i thought that it would only be hard to steer when the hubs were locked

you are correct a with hubs unlocked the locker basicaly dosent even move when in 2wd
you basically activate it when you lock the hubs.if your transfer case is in 2wd and hubs unlocked that portion of the 4wd sytem is not hooked up to engine power.i.e no forced movment.

but on the trails its said a full locker in 4x4 will suck. fom what the experts on here said in my research was a locker out back and lsd in the front
