Need help with my 90 Yota
I have a 1990 Toyota pick-up 4x4. It is the 3.0 v-6 and it is automatic.
When I went to leave the other day, I start my truck and notice that it doesn't sound right(sounds like it is not getting enough power/idling rough) and it is vibrating really bad. It didn't do this on the way to school. It did it after I got out of class.
I know it doesn't need a tune up since I've just did that within the past 2 months.I've replaced the fuel filter and ran fuel injector cleaner through it. It has only help a little bit. It reduced the vibrating in park, but it still vibrates way to much when sitting at a light.
I thought that it could be the EGR Valve since the check engine light has been on and when I checked the code it said it was the EGR, but I have been running it like that for almost 3 months without problems. I also thought that it could be out of time, but wasn't sure what would make it all of a sudden get knocked out.
So any ideas as to why its running this way, I would appreciate it.
Thanks guys

If you have a code for the EGR that can and will cause the problems your having. Remove and clean the EGR and temperature sensor if it has one and see if it runs better after that.

I would clean the egr. Or have you tryed applying vaccum to the egr to see if its working right? All you do is apply vaccum and the engine should stumble or die, if the egr is workin as it should. But cleaning the egr wouldent hurt either! Just be carfull when you do clean it because there are rubber bellows in the egr that allow the egr to open and close so if you poke a hole or somthing in it the egr will be ruinend.

Find a vaccum hoes that has vaccum. The should be a vaccum hoes doing into the top of the egr pull that vaccum hoes off, now grab the hoes that has vaccum and apply it to the top of the egr. Best way I have found to clean it was like pipe cleaners and carb cleaner.

Well it wasn't the EGR. I replaced it and my check engine light is now off, but my truck is still running like crap. It almost acts like its not firing on all cylinders. I checked all my wires/plugs with no signs of foul out. I'm not sure what else could cause it to run like this. I guess during my winter intersession I'll just have to swap engines.... :-/

No smoke or anything? There is always the possibility of a famous 3.0 blown head gasket...you can narrow down which cylinder's aren't firing by pulling and replacing spark plug wire's one at a time. If you pull a plug wire, and it doesn't change how the engine is running, that's the cylinder that's miss firing.
After that, I'd do a compression test. That'll tell you for sure if a cylinder is contributing.

Fuel Pump power
Just rebuilt a '90 Toy Pick-Up and fuel pump is not pumping fuel! Before I buy a 140+ pump is there a way to check if pump is getting power first, and if pump is good or bad?
