Models and years for TRD E lockers and stock 4.56

I love this site and Yes I am a newbie to this place. It is a wealth of knowledge. I have an 87 pickup 4x4 w 22r 5 sp and stock everything. The only current mod is 31 inch BFG muds that i paid 60 a set for and yes they have lots of life in them. The truck was a steal at 250 dollars especially after I drove it home. I read on here that some trucks come stock w 4.56 gears and TRD E locker. I saw the posts of the retrofits of those parts. I just need to know what years Im looking for for those parts. then it will be junkyard searching here I come. any help would be great. Love the yota!!!

Highly doubt you find one with 4.56's and elocker.

I've never seen one, I know they are out there somewhere, there is a part number for them from toyota.

it's going to have to come out of a 2.7l 3rd gen 4runner with option elocker or 2.7l automatic top of the line with elocker

Is it possible to mix and match the 3rd members? As in 4.56 gears from one gen truck and E locker from another?? What years and models came with 4.56s? and then a 3rd gen E locker and presto chango u have an unstoppable yota axle? possible or am i crazy?

4.30 e-lockers are the most common, you could always buy a 3rd member and re-gear it, but that's going to add to the cost. Also remember that you're going to have to re-gear the front if you want to use 4wd

You should be ok. You didn't say if it was a daily driver, off road only or you would be doing a little of both.

it is my my DD and my weekend warrior. I use it a lot in the snow trails when I go to get firewood. So i do need some offroad grunt and some on road manners too. I also need it CHEAP!! Which is why I was looking at the 4.30s from a boneyard. Is it worth my time to do this swap??
