Which is better?

I've always been led to belive that DOM is more expensive and better but never knew why.

Is HREW strong enough for Rocksliders that are going to be used as a Highlift mounting point?

Just curious cause I have access to a bunch of 1.75'' x.120'' HREW for REALLY cheap and would fab up some sliders from it.

I live in florida so it won't see too many rocks, more like tree's, but I will use it as a jacking point while on trails of that I'm sure.

My sliders are DOM, and they work great. If you plan to use a High Lift on them, just make sure you weld in gussets from the tubes to the frame. The only thing I consider a requirement for using DOM, is for building cages. Bumpers and sliders made of HREW hold up well.

I'm going to go ahead and build my sliders out of the HREW then

I will overbuild them and of course go off of other people's versions out there

HREW has a seam, DOM doesn't. The process used to make DOM results in better material properties.

DOM should be used on any life-critical applications, like a roll cage, but HREW is plenty fine most everywhere else, the exception being times when you need a nice, uniform inside diameter, like suspension links where you need to put in a threaded insert.
