Double checking deckplate mod facts
So I have been searching and reading posts about the deckplate mod and have some different questions that I couldn't find the answer to.
1. When you say that the mod increases the loudness of your truck, is the sound increase in the sound coming from your exaughst or is it an increase in sound from the engine compartment?
2. Where would I pick up a deckplate to do the mod and do they make one small enough for the 22re airbox?
3. Would you have to close the deckplate in rainy weather or just when you are crossing a creek or something?
4. Do you have to clean your airfilter more often due to more dust entering the air box? I have a K&N filter.
Hopefully I can get the mod done this wkend if I can get my questions answered. Thanks in advance!

Good luck on your Deckplate. To answer your questions - in order.
1 - More noise from the engine. All intake noise. On the 3.4 it really hammers the above 3K RPM range, on the 22re it will be different, but it is engine noise.
2 - Deckplates are available at any marina or boating store, both locally, and online. I think everyone here favors the Benson brand, from what I can see, a deckplate is a deckplate is a deckplate. I know we reun the 4" on the 3.4 airbox, Im not sure how big your 22re box is.
3 - I leave mine open all the time, except for creek corssings. Rain is no problem.
4 - I do have to clean my filter a little more frequently. I still run the stock paper filter, I know Elton really preaches his truflow filter, which you can get from Jason B. on this board, but if your happy with your K&N, stick with it.
Hope this helps.
