It's a 2RZ, not a 22RZ, other than being 4 cylinder, they have nothing in common. The 2RZ is a more powerful engine, that many with 22R/RE's in their older trucks swap in.

The best 5speed would be an R-series V6 tranny. Marlin Crawler makes the necessary bellhousing:

Superchargers and other power stuff for the 2RZ from

thanks for the info. i want to build a fast truck. i only paid $500 for the truck and it got high mile on it, so that why i was asking if the 22re was better, but if th 2rz it better i'll find one to build and drop in my truck.
any more info let me know. its my frist toya motor that was worth doing something to. i had a 4runner w/a 3.0 v6 and it sucked.

if you're swapping a motor and looking for power while staying toyota, you may want to look down the road of a 5VZ or a 7M. 5VZ are the V6's found in the 96+ Runners/Pickups and the 7M is a straight 6 found in Supras and Cressidas... An updated version of the 7M is found in newer supras and lexuses, and i believe is the 1JZ or 2JZ motor.... With enough time, money, and motivation almost anything can be swapped into anything, however 5VZ would be the easiest and cheapest amoung those I mentioned, and has supercharger availability.

cool thanks for more great info.
i want to build a street sleeper, its my second yota motor and frist 4 cy. i used to honda motor and have built a few, but i really dont know yota motor codes.
i want to go turbo or build an N/a high w/ high compersion with idtb's
so is this motor good for what i want to do? i can get any parts for either of these builds,
i do know alittle about the supra motors but dont see how its going to fit, anyone seen this swap?

Some other info: https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f147...qs-info-96893/
5VZ swap is straightforward, the truck came with that motor as an option from the factory.....
Google is your friend, theres lots more info out there. Best of luck, and post with any questions!
