I been havin similar issues with my 3vze lately. Tested my AFM tonight, resistance is supposed to go from 20-1200 ohms from closed to fully open on the 3.0 AFM. Mine was going from about 800 closed, down to 3-400 fully open.

The local U-Pick-It here has air flow sensors listed at $20. I'll be heading there tomorrow.

Good luck with your truck!

yeah thats kinda what i think mine is doing too. i think whats happening is its worn out so it doesnt tell the efi to give it the right fuel till i hit about 2500rpm then it all the sudden goes. so i figure i will try my luck with a used one too

Hope you guys have better luck than I.. went to U-Pick-It today, roamed the enormous import section for an hour and a half. Found some barely recognizable trucks, none with an AFM, most without a motor.

Wish they'd group the trucks together...

HAha, that sucks! Our pick-a-part is pretty good with organization, too bad all the trucks are propped up on old rims and sinking into oily mud. Makes it REAL fun if you gotta pull anything drivetrain related!

Ok went to pick a part and got a afm off a 4runner for 28 bucks, trired it out and it improved a bit lol lag isnt as bad but its still there so now im going to do seafoam and get new fuel filters. I am sure its gotta be something starving my fuel flow because if its bogging and i give her more gas she will all the sudden jump up in power soo im thinking there is somethinf restricting in the fuel filters and thought seafoam would be a good thing too. Sooo anyways... Oyah would it be a good idea or even something worth doing by adjusting the tps? Would that do anything for me? I have high idle when cold too so hmmm

I was just checking to see if you ended up getting one, im heading to the wack on monday to buy some rimmmmsss!

I would check the TPS for sure! Let me know if you need a hand, its a little difficult at first, but if you remove the Throttle body, its super easy.

Just need the ohm meter and some feeler gauges.

How high is the cold idle? As long as it goes to the normal idle speed when warm it should be fine. My likes to idle at like 17-1800rpm when really cold. Sure is loud!

Yeah i dont know what to do with the tps yet but i know u can adjust it lol and yeah i wouldnt mind a hand

i have my buddys ohm meter but i can't find m feeler gauges lol

well its if i leave mt truck for atleast an hour and a half then when i start it it idles up and sits at 2000 then drops to 1500 after a couple mins, then it takes forever to get down to 750 lol like i mean sitting in the driveway for 5-7 mins waiting lol its just a joke between me and my friends. Like alright lets go to lunch, o wait we have to wait for jason and his toyota lmao. But yeah this happens all the time and it can be hot as hell and its up there.

I have everything you'd need. I'll be home from the whack on Wednesday night.

Send me a text or something and we can figure out something.

Yeah, my girlfreinds 22re 4runner is the same way. It takes FOREVER to drop down to the normal idle. I usually let it idle till it drops down to around 1500rpm then I drive it. I do take it easy till its at operating temp tho, just like my rig

It shouldn't idle that high if its really hot out tho. Usually when its super hot and I turn on my truck it idles right away at like 1000rpm..

Ight cool and i dont have your number lol

Yeah same a wait untill 1500 to drive it but yeah it idles high when warming up, even on a day lioe today i had to wait two times for it lol. Plus the power lag is so bad if i dont let it get to normal temp, like it will get to 1500 but its still cold and i get sputtering and its just bad. Im almost certain that it has too be fuel filters or tps.

hey so i just noticed today that my rpms surge a bit. when i hold the throttle at any rpm it will jump up and down. so say i give it a tad bit of gas, it will go from 1200 to 1500 then back donw and up overn and over again. it does it throughout the rpm range where ever hold the throttle at. doesnt do it at idle. so i dont know if that helps with any ideas but it sounds like the tps is mostlikely acting up, along with some fuel flow problems.

Lol mak i have... But good news, i think i found a major part of the problem lol i just got out of my truck tonight, left it running and felt around the exhaust for leaks, no leaks around the header to block so checked the downpipe... And guess what? Yep big a** leak where the header links to the downpipe so yeah i should of heard it leaking but its a 22 re lol and iv had leaks since i bought it so it didnt sound out of the ordinary. So now i need a new gasket for this pce o crap header and hopfully that will fix this nonsence lol anyways thought i would give u an update ( that is if anyone is even watching this thread?)

Oyah yeah give that a try and let me know for sure

Mine just sputers right after i shift and accel i get sputter... Then boom hit 2500 and it goes? And it only realy does it after shifting??? But it still runs like crap anyways haha im almost 100% sure the exhaust leak is most of my problem, would hurt to do seafoam and get new fuel filters bit im so poor rightnow haha.
